Wasatch Bitworks
I'm Zach, a web developer based in Sandy, Utah, and the founder of Wasatch Bitworks. I help small businesses get custom websites without agency prices or cookie-cutter templates.
Unlike big agencies that charge $10K+, or DIY builders that lock you into monthly fees forever, I hand-code fast, modern sites that you own completely. No WordPress bloat, no Squarespace fees—just clean, efficient code built exactly for your business.
Why work with Wasatch Bitworks?
You have options: big agencies, DIY builders, or offshore freelancers. Here's what makes Bitworks different.
- Custom Code, Not Templates
- Every site is hand-coded from scratch using modern tools like Eleventy and Ruby. No WordPress bloat, no template limitations—just clean, fast code built for your needs.
- You Own Everything
- No platform lock-in. You own the source code, the domain, and all content. Want to move or change something? No problem—it's yours.
- Local & Responsive
- Based in Sandy, Utah—not offshore, not a chatbot. Same-day responses, local support, and direct communication with the person building your site.
- Privacy-Focused Analytics
- Included Plausible analytics means no cookie banners, no GDPR headaches, and visitor data that's yours—not sold to advertisers.
- Fair, Transparent Pricing
- $1,200–3,500 for custom sites, not $10K+. Clear pricing, no hidden fees, and optional managed hosting if you want hands-off maintenance.
- Built to Last
- Modern, maintainable code that won't break with the next update. Fast loading, secure hosting, and built with best practices for the long haul.
Technologies I Build With
I use modern, proven technologies that deliver real benefits: Ruby and Sinatra for fast, secure backends. PostgreSQL for reliable data. Tailwind CSS for responsive designs that look great on any device. Sites are deployed on Heroku or Netlify for 99.9% uptime, protected by Cloudflare for speed and security. The result? Websites that load in under 2 seconds, never go down, and cost less to maintain than WordPress. My projects are open-source and available on GitHub.
The team
Wasatch Bitworks is a one-person studio — just me, Zach. I take on projects that align with my skills and values, and I keep things intentionally small so I can do focused, high-quality work.

- Keep learning
- Tech changes fast. I stay curious, keep my skills sharp, and learn from every project I take on.
- Communicate clearly
- Whether it's explaining a feature or talking through feedback, clear and respectful communication is a must.
- Take responsibility
- I stand behind my work. If something's off, I fix it. If it needs extra care, I give it.

- Good work takes attention. I build in space for focus, thinking time, and breaks when needed.
